Boston Business Journal Honors Virgin Pulse As A 2014 “Best Place to Work”
Framingham, Mass. - (June 13, 2014)
Virgin Pulse, the market leader in the rapidly-growing employee health engagement category, today announced that the Boston Business Journal has named the company as one of the 2014 “Best Places to Work” in Massachusetts. The honor recognizes Virgin Pulse’s achievements in creating a positive work environment that attracts and retains employees.
Virgin Pulse’s consumer-focused solutions foster daily habits and sustainable healthy behavior change across all aspects of life, helping organizations create a workforce that has the energy, focus, and drive necessary to thrive at work and in life. The company-wide commitment to helping organizations improve employee engagement and wellness translates to a “walk the talk” company culture that Virgin Pulse employees appreciate. Virgin Pulse was one of over 400 companies to qualify for consideration based on a two-stage nomination process and the results of employee-satisfaction surveys taken throughout March and April.
“At Virgin Pulse, we’re more than award-winning products and technologies. We pride ourselves on our people — the ones who’ve chosen to join our team and who carry out our mission of changing lives for good and making companies better,” said Chris Boyce, CEO of Virgin Pulse. “We have a talented, phenomenal team here at Virgin Pulse and, while we’re not in it for the awards, being highlighted by the Boston Business Journal as one of Massachusetts’ ‘Best Places to Work’ is some fantastic recognition for all of the great work the team is collectively doing to deliver on our mission and help people live better every day. Work is a lot more fun when you’ve got a great group of people to work with and you know you’re making a difference, and that’s one of the reasons our employees love coming to work day in and day out.”
True to the company’s Virgin roots, Virgin Pulse uses business as a force for good, and employees know they’re making a positive difference in the world by helping people get healthier and more engaged. Virgin Pulse attracts employees from a variety of sectors, and without fail, new hires mention that the ability to join a team helping to solve the big, global challenge of keeping people healthy and engaged at work and in life played an important role in their decision to join the team.
Beyond a shared commitment to the company’s mission, Virgin Pulse employees enjoy a very generous benefits package including: flexible work arrangements like telecommuting, flex-scheduling and compressed work options, medical, dental and vision coverage, long-term care, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, an EAP program, online lifestyle management programs, annual biometric screenings, generous PTO and holidays, on-site fitness center and classes, free healthy snacks and much more. These benefits – among others – help Virgin Pulse employees manage some of life’s stresses and support their lives off the job, contributing to a high level of employee engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty.
“Our Best Places to Work event recognizes the importance of cultivating a great workplace culture as a competitive advantage,” said Chris McIntosh, publisher of the Boston Business Journal. “Companies on our list can be justifiably proud of creating a high level of workplace satisfaction during an economy where traditional rewards like big raises and bonuses aren’t as easy to give. In good times and in bad, our results validate how the creation of the right corporate culture can create powerful business advantages. Employees are proud to work for companies that are about more than just business.”
The survey project was launched in January by the Boston Business Journal in conjunction with market research firm Quantum Workplace of Omaha, NE. Companies were evaluated on the results of more than 18,000 employee-satisfaction surveys. Employees answered questionnaires that addressed such factors as their pride in the company, company encouragement, support and recognition of achievement and relationships with co-workers and supervisors.
