Who are you? 

Technical Feature Owners have all the skills of a business analyst, but are assigned specifically to a scrum team and also utilize their possess project management and planning skills.  They are responsible for requirements gathering and prioritization of requests.  They also work with their team to break large requests (Epics) down to a user story level and ensure that sprint planning includes the most important feature work.


In the role of a Business Data Analyst you will wear many hats and your skills will be crucial in the following:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders as a subject matter expert to data systems and reporting
  • Reviewing and refining non-technical user requests into clear and concise requirements.
  • Reviewing and refining technical specifications to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Planning and prioritizing team deliverables
  • Communicating priorities to DSR and the departments requesting support.
  • Work with business to drive business requirements related to reporting
  • Working with technical teams to providing meaningful data and reporting to clients
  • Driving documentation of business and technical requirements
  • Driving documentation of business definitions
  • Provide customer service and status updates to internal and external stakeholders

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, health, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience working with health insurance claims data, employee benefits/plan design, and health management solutions from a consultative perspective
  • Intermediate statistical expertise with ability to solution complex problems
  • High-energy, results-oriented approach to completing projects with ability to work in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in creativity/innovation, customer service, group presentations, group process facilitation, interpersonal relations, oral communication, project management, quality management, and teamwork
  • A strong business acumen, proven expertise in oral/written communication, the ability to compile and present information to Senior Leadership with demonstrated analytical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities are essential
  • Must be a motivated self-starter who will be able to manage multiple projects utilizing excellent time management, conflict resolution and creative skills requiring minimal supervision
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills a must
  • SQL skills and working knowledge of data structures required
  • Preferred experience using BI tools such as Qlik and Tableau
  • Project management and consulting experience preferred

Continuous Integration and Deployment is part of our DNA.  We structure our applications as microservices and manage each deployment pipeline using containers, GitLab, and Harness.  We strive for layered approach to unit, integration, functional tests to allow for lower risk releases at rates 100s of times per day to multiple environments.

 

You’ll be working on a platform that serves:

  • Several million users with nearly 50% use daily
  • 75 billion API calls and transactions a year spread across 35 services
  • An engaging native mobile platform driving 85% of user traffic
  • Hundreds of terabytes of data spread across multiple transactional and analytical stores

Engineers at Virgin Pulse work in small autonomous teams of technical leads, product owners, project managers, designers, and engineers collaborating with each other, across teams, to deliver unique solutions and products to the portfolio.  As part of our team, you bring to the table your technical and leadership skills to help us build the latest technology in health and wellness platforms.

Security Competencies:

Work to ensure system and data security is maintained at a high standard, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the Virgin Pulse application is not compromised. Ensure industry best practice coding standards are adhered to ensure all code developed at Virgin Pulse is free from bugs and security vulnerabilities, such as those defined and published by OWASP.
