Employee Engagement Workplace Wellbeing

Help your employees stay social during social distancing

By now, chances are you’ve heard of ‘social distancing’. The measure recommended by The World Health Organisation to help slow down the spread of contagious diseases like Coronavirus. Social distancing involves maintaining sufficient distance – 1 metre (3 feet) to be exact – between you and others. Apologies all hug-lovers out there!

But with all the isolation that comes with physical distancing, how can we make sure we look after social connections that are vital to our mental and physical health? The answer? Distant-socialising.

Share these 7-day tips with your employees :

Monday
Connect with others virtually:
Brighten up someone’s day by calling a friend or family member (using face-time!). Connecting with others can also help to reduce anxiety, depression, loneliness, and boredom.

Tuesday:
Go to a museum in France or visit the Taj Mahal:
Now you can travel the world without stepping a foot outside your house with Google’s virtual tours of museums and landmarks around the globe.

Wednesday:
Learn something new:
Take an online course and learn something that has been on your list forever – a new language or a new skill.

Thursday:
Get active at home:
Take advantage of all the fitness, yoga and dance studios offering free online classes and get your colleagues involved for an online workout.

Friday:
Movie night.
Pop some popcorn and put on your favourite movie or series. Then organise a virtual catch up with a friend to have a chat about it.

Saturday:
Get ‘appy.
There’s some rock-star apps being developed out there to help bring people together virtually. Try House Party for some fun virtual games that’ll lift the lols.

Sunday:
Eat out, at home.
Support your local small businesses and restaurants by ordering takeout or delivery. Go a step further and write them a google review to help them out.
