June 17, 2013 / Corporate Wellness
We’re proud to announce today that we’ve teamed up with the free health and fitness system MyFitnessPal to further extend our HealthMiles platform, help employers grow beyond Wellness 1.0 and support Total Quality of Life for employees. Our partnership allows HealthMiles users to automatically sync entries from MyFitnessPal into their Virgin HealthMiles accounts, tracking progress and challenges while supporting friends and earning rewards.
“Our partnership with MyFitnessPal is one in a series that will extend the Virgin HealthMiles employee engagement platform and help employers create healthy cultures that support their employees’ total quality of life,” said Chris Boyce, Virgin HealthMiles CEO. “We’re excited to partner with MyFitnessPal, the most popular diet and nutrition tracking app in the world. By creating easy integration for our users, we’re extending the value of both platforms.”
MyFitnessPal is a free resource that makes it easy and sustainable for its more than 30 million users to take charge of their health. HealthMiles users leveraging the partnership can integrate data automatically from MyFitnessPal into the HealthMiles dashboard to track their daily caloric intake.
“Through our partnership with Virgin HealthMiles, our joint members will be able to leverage their healthy lifestyle to earn additional rewards,” said Mike Lee, co-founder of MyFitnessPal. “We’re excited to be able to offer our members even more incentives to achieve their personal health and fitness goals.”
The integration between MyFitnessPal and Virgin HealthMiles means users will earn points and incentives for nutrition tracking, motivating even more employees toward sustainable healthy habits and benefiting their Total Quality of Life.
Calorie tracking via online tools or mobile apps can help employees make a major impact on their efforts in weight loss success. According to research released by the American Heart Association, patients who use an electronic logging system that provides feedback, such as an electronic diary, are more likely to stick to a five-point plan to achieve and sustain weight loss.
The integration will be available to current and prospective Virgin HealthMiles clients in an upcoming product release. For more information visit: http://virginhealthmiles.com.
