Highlights From the Industry’s Premier Health and Wellbeing Conference: Thrive Summit 2019
June 13, 2019 / Corporate Wellness
How do we even begin to describe our biggest and most exciting Thrive Summit to date? Set in the beautiful Roosevelt hotel in New Orleans, over 900 attendees were immersed in two-and-a-half days of inspiring keynotes, workshops, and networking with the industry’s leading health, engagement, wellbeing, and HR thought leaders. It was a packed few days, but the daily wellbeing activities did wonders to keep us centered and ready to learn. Read on for a few of our favorite highlights from Thrive Summit 2019.
Music, Sight-Seeing, and Fun in New Orleans
We truly could not have had a better setting than New Orleans for this year’s Thrive Summit. With its rich history and music-filled streets, we felt the city’s energy and joy throughout our short time there.
Attendees took in the sights with morning walks along the Mississippi River, enjoyed the views from the Roosevelt roof deck while doing yoga, sipping cocktails, and networking, and celebrated our final night with live music at the Elms Mansion, located on a beautiful, tree-lined street in the Garden District.
During our stay, we walked in a second line behind a local brass band, ate king cake, beignets, and local seafood, and rode in open-air street trolleys — all while wearing our Mardi Gras beads. The celebratory feeling in New Orleans certainly lent a special air to this year’s Thrive Summit — one that we won’t soon forget.
Virgin Pulse Unveils Homebase for Health™ Vision and Josh Bersin Academy Partnership
On day one, Virgin Pulse CEO David Osborne took to the stage after an action-packed video that explained how our product vision will help simplify health and wellbeing and solve problems our broken healthcare system simply can’t. “The amount of time, money and energy people are expending trying to navigate this broken system is staggering,” said Osborne. “With Homebase for Health™, Virgin Pulse is bringing clarity to chaos. By removing the complexity in the system, we can improve access to and quality of care at every point in a user’s health and wellbeing journey, from prevention to intervention to reversal, and we are allowing people to maximize what’s most important to them — their time, their health, their finances.”
Ron Hildebrant, Virgin Pulse’s chief product officer, followed up with a visionary keynote dedicated to our innovation roadmap. He explained the technology that’s going to bring our Homebase for Health™ to life, where people can easily manage, connect, and interact with their health and wellbeing benefits in one easy-to-use platform. From benefits navigation, integrated global capabilities, enhanced AI and personalization, to easily accessible digital coaching and more, Hildebrant set the scene for this exciting phase in our product’s development.
The following day, we announced our exclusive Wellbeing at Work partnership with the Josh Bersin Academy. Using technology for good is something that Josh Bersin and Virgin Pulse have always aligned on, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this new upskilling and enablement platform to market.
Health Is Why We’re Here
This year’s Thrive Summit was packed with a stellar lineup of keynotes, including Sir Richard Branson, Dr. Peter Attia, Alison Levine, Dr. David Katz, Esther Dyson, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Rudolph Tanzi, and Dr. BJ Fogg, who covered a wide range of topics. From space exploration, behavior change, genomics, Alzheimer’s Disease, mental health, addiction, the importance of purpose and inclusion, lifestyle medicine, leadership, to the truth about food, they broke new ground and exposed new ways to think about issues that are central to our industry.
Despite the breadth of topics, the keynotes at Thrive Summit 2019 brought this message home: giving individuals the support they need to be healthy and live their lives to the fullest is why we’re here. It’s why our keynotes take to the stage to share their stories, research, and advice. It’s why Virgin Pulse remains committed to our mission of changing lives for good, each and every day. It’s why HR professionals and wellbeing coordinators work tirelessly to create cultures of health and wellbeing within their organizations. Thanks to our keynotes’ inspiring stories and a restoring group meditation led by Dr. Deepak Chopra, we walked away from the event feeling inspired and more committed to our mission than ever.
